The Lost Days

Issue 2

"I was inventing a language for people to see the everyday things that I also see... and show them something different, simply the other side."

I am passionate about the black and white darkroom print, a journey that began for me over 20 years ago. I enjoy documenting my work in the darkroom, an age-old analog process lost to new generations of photographers today. My training came from the old school and my work is primarily self-processed using traditional gelatin silver printing under safelights and sounds of running water in the darkroom. Film photography has a wonderful way of slowing things down, bringing silence while shooting as well as stillness where I feel connected to both the surrounding world and the world of dreams. The stillness of the frame turns magic out of ordinary stuff, the things we usually pass by without noticing. I enjoy finding poetry and narratives in moments of everyday life, simple gestures, intimacy and detachment.
